ISEE Prep

The South Boston Leadership Initiative and the South Boston Neighborhood House have partnered to offer a free ISEE Test Prep Course to be held at the Neighborhood House (136 H St). The program is open to South Boston residents and students who plan on taking the upcoming ISEE Test. Some highlights include:

 

  • Fall of 2019 (October 1st – November 7th)
  • 2 sessions per week (Tuesday and Thursday)
  • 5:00-7:00pm each night for five total weeks
  • Materials will be provided by the South Boston Leadership Initiative

 

This in-depth course, led by South Boston resident and Boston Public School teacher Shannon Moran, will help students with test strategies, problem solving, and practice exams. As a graduate of Boston Latin School, and with degrees from Boston College and Harvard, Shannon knows the importance of the ISEE Test and will be able to relate to all of the students who participate.

2019 Summer Fitness Program

The South Boston Leadership Initiative will be hosting a Summer Fitness Program to be held at Farragut Park (and the surrounding causeways and beach areas) throughout the Summer of 2019, and will meet every morning, Monday thru Thursday, outside of the Murphy Rink. The program is FREE and open to anyone between the ages of 12-18, and in collaboration with Save the Harbor/Save the Bay. Highlights include:

 

  • 7 weeks (July 8th-August 22nd)
  • Monday through Thursday
  • Group 1: Ages 15-18 (7:30am-8:30am)
  • Group 2: Ages 12-14 (8:30am-10:00am)

 

This specialized program, led by an experienced staff, will look to use fitness and nutrition as a means of instilling healthy lifestyles to the youth in South Boston. While focusing on everything from flexibility to nutrition to sport-specific weight training, each participant will improve not just physically but mentally as well as we head into the Summer months. Farragut Park and the beachfront should provide the perfect setting to enjoy a successful Summer!
