Brian Carthas – img_1115Brian currently works as an Associate at OpenView Venture Partners, where he helps technology companies turn their vision into reality.  Prior to OpenView, Brian spent time in Munich, Germany as a professional hockey player.  He graduated from Princeton University in 2006 with a degree in Politics and Economics. In recent years, Brian has been an active volunteer in “Tech Gives Back,” a group that helps bring the technology community together and support great non-profits across the city.  Brian is a recent inductee to the South Boston Sports Hall of Fame as well.

Andrew Collins – Andrew is a lifelong resident of South Boston, and a graduate of Boston Latin School and Babson College.  He has always displayed a strong commitment to the community.  Along with Jack Owens, Andrew has coached at the South Boston Collegiate Little League Clinics over the past several years.  He is currently the Director of Operations for New England Baseball Enterprises.

Thomas L. Dearnley – Thomas is a seasoned accounting professional and is a partner Blum, Shapiro & Co. P.C. He is a graduate of Bryant University and holds a Masters of Science in Taxation from Bentley University.  Thomas has always displayed a strong sense of community involvement, having been a part of “Habitat for Humanity” and “Jumpstart” in years prior.  He is an active member in the South Boston community.

Mary Hurley – Mary currently works with the Department of Healthcare Policy at Harvard Medical School.  Prior to her role at HMS, Mary served as the Director of Programs at the “Academic Internship Council,” an organization focused on providing academic institutions with internship programs that help their students to achieve both personal and professional growth and afford them with a competitive advantage in the workforce.  Mary currently resides in South Boston and is an Economics graduate from the College of the Holy Cross.

Sarah McGarrell –  Sarah is a corporate attorney currently working in a small investment firm in Boston. Sarah brings plenty of not for profit experience to the Leadership Initiative, she was the co-founder of nonprofit workspace Space with a Soul and regularly works with nonprofits on operational and programmatic issues. Sarah is a rare female Triple Eagle, having received her undergraduate degree, her master’s degree and her JD from Boston College.

John K. Owens – John, a lifelong South Boston resident, is currently a teacher within the Boston Public School System. In his current role as an Adaptive Physical Education Teacher, John provides quality instruction to students with disabilities.  He is a graduate of St. Michael’s College in Vermont where he was a member of the varsity baseball team, and recently completed his Masters in Sports Leadership from Northeastern University.  For the past four years, John has been a coach in the South Boston Collegiate Baseball Clinic.

Ryan Sweeney – Ryan is currently the Program Director for the South Boston Leadership Initiative and handles all of the day to day business associated with the organization.  A graduate of Boston Latin School and Saint Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire, Ryan was born and raised in South Boston. Since earning his degree in Politics from Saint Anselm, he has traveled the country while refereeing hockey at the professional, college, and junior levels.  Ryan also currently serves on the Hobey Baker Selection Committee, in addition to his on-ice duties at the collegiate level.
